Tail
Start with grey yarn
R 1: mr with 6 st | [6] |
R 2: inc x 6 | [12] |
R 3: 12 sc | [12] |
R 4: (inc, 1 sc) x 6 | [18] |
R 5: 18 sc | [18] |
R 6: (2 sc, inc) x 6 | [24] |
R 7-9: 24 sc | [24] |
Finish with sl st. Cut off the yarn, fasten off, hide the tail. Stuff firmly then sew to the body, with the second half of the round at the bottom (this stops the tail from pointing down too much).
You can embroider the details on the face now, and hide the end of the black yarn behind the tummy.
The nose is several horizontal lines with a small vertical line at the bottom. The
whiskers are three single lines under the eyes on each side.
The mouth is a single very small horizontal line. You could make the big smile that Totoro sometimes has with some white felt, glued or sewn neatly on, with black vertical lines sewn across with thread.
