How to crochet chain stitch (ch)

The crochet chain is the first stitch beginners need to learn when starting very first project. The reason for this is because the chain stitch is the foundation for crochet, and almost every pattern begins with a chain stitch.

The chain stitch looks very similar to a braid and involves carefully manipulating a single piece of yarn, as with all crochet.

The chain stitch is very easy to make and this tutorial video demonstrates how to work a crochet chain.
